Transporting Your Car with Your U-Haul

Transporting your own car when you move can be a money saver, plus your car is with you the whole time so you can more easily keeps tabs on it, and have it available the instant you get where you are going.

There are two ways that you can transport your car yourself with a U-Haul truck.

One is renting an auto trailer when you rent your truck, they are ideal for long moves and are rated with a maximum towing capacity of around 5,200 pounds. These trailers have easy loading ramps, security straps and chains, and ratchet operated tire straps to keep your car securely on the trailer.

Another option is to rent a car tow dolly, which lifts the front tires off the ground so the car can be towed behind the truck. Tow dollies are lightweight, but also have heavy duty chains and ratchet tire straps for security. This option is a little cheaper as well.

And if you happen to have a motorcycle you need to transport, motorcycle trailers are affordable, lightweight and easy to tow. These come equipped with an easy-access loading ramp, heavy-duty tie-down rings and a built-in motorcycle chock. The motorcycle trailer rental is great for quick hauls to the shop or a long round-trip.
